USDA ARS study finds Assurance GDS PickPen to have better recovery than conventional IMS methods
Researchers at the USDA Agricultural Research Service, Meat Animal Research Center in Clay Center, Nebraska recently compared the effectiveness of recovery of varying target cell levels by both conventional and PickPen™ Immunomagentic Separation (IMS) procedures. IMS is commonly used to isolate and separate target organisms such as E. coli O157:H7 or Salmonella from the other microflora present in a sample, aiding in detection, confirmation and identification of the organism. The PickPen, which is an integral component of BioControl’s Assurance GDS' pathogen detection system, was found to have a better recovery rate than conventional IMS methods.
