BioControl Introduces first Room Temperature Stable
ATP Hygiene Monitoring Swab

BELLEVUE, Wash., August 2003 – BioControl Systems, Inc. announces the first ATP sampling devices that do not require refrigerated storage. The LIGHTNING MVP™ Sampling Devices for surface and liquid hygiene monitoring can be stored at room temperature for up to twelve months.
Room temperature storage presents a significant benefit to end-users, as refrigerated storage is often in short supply. Users who have had to limit their testing due to refrigerated storage constraints can now fully optimize their hygiene monitoring programs. Room temperature storage of the LIGHTNING MVP sampling devices also has economic benefits to the end-user through cost savings from standard rather than refrigerated shipping conditions, as well as fewer wasted sampling devices due to inadvertent temperature abuse. Users also avoid the risk of inaccurate monitoring data that may result from sampling devices accidentally being left at room temperature and subsequently used, a very real situation.
“ATP measurement is an indicator of plant sanitation that has been widely used throughout the food industry. Plants often use several hundred sampling devices each month,” according to Philip Feldsine, President and CEO of BioControl. “The logistical constraint for many users has been how to find refrigerated storage for all of these devices. Room temperature stable sampling devices are one of the many innovative features of the LIGHTNING MVP system.
