Art. No: AB 0299
Units: 1 Format: Microplate TRANSIA PLATE Chloramphenicol Description:The use of chloramphenicol as a broad spectrum antibiotic in veterinary medicine was totally banned in the EU in 1994. This was due to the suspicion that it is potentially carcinogenic and that it can cause aplastic anaemia in humans. A zero tolerance level for food was established as no correlation between the dose and aplastic anaemia was found. In 2001, several foodstuffs imported from South East Asia to Canada and Europe were reported to contain traces of chloramphenicol. As a result, the EU decided to suspend imports of most products of animal origin from China in early 2002. TRANSIA PLATE Chloramphenicol is used to screen for chloramphenicol in shrimps, honey, eggs, meat, milk, fish, serum and urine. Features:
