TRANSIA PLATE DON

Description:
Deoxynivalenol (DON) is a mycotoxin produced by fungi of the Fusarium family, particularly Fusarium graminearum. The fungi infect wheat, barley, oats, rye and corn and growth of these microorganisms is favoured by cool, moist conditions. DON is a stable compound and is not degraded to any large extent during storage or cooking.

DON is also called vomitoxin as it is known to cause pigs to vomit in acute cases of poisoning. The side-effects in humans include vomiting, diarrhoea, immunosuppressive effects and reduced growth rate in children.

TRANSIA PLATE DON is suitable for efficient, quantitative screening of DON residues in grain, including wheat, barley, corn/maize and oats as well as in sunflower seeds, cornflakes and beer.

Features:
  • Quantitative method
  • Competitive indirect-type ELISA
  • Convenient sample pre-treatment
  • Aqueous extraction of samples
  • Ready-to-use reagents
  • Rapid assay, including 15 min total incubation time
  • Limit of detection: 0.10 ppm
